Lib Dems celebrate County Council by-election victory

March 15, 2008 3:38 PM

Wantage Liberal Democrats are celebrating the victory of Councillor Jenny Hannaby in the 13 March by-election for the Grove and Wantage division on Oxfordshire County Council. Jenny increased the Liberal Democrat share of the vote by 11.1%, getting 1901 votes, compared to the Conservatives' 1786 and Labour's 382.

The by-election was called after the death of Liberal Democrat Councillor Jim Moley, who died in January at age 70.

Leader of the Liberal Democrat Group, and fellow Grove & Wantage Councillor, Zoé Patrick said, "I am absolutely delighted to welcome Jenny Hannaby to the County Council. She has a strong track record of working hard for the community and she will make a real difference both locally and here at County Hall."
