Lib Dem Euro-MP nominated as among the top ten financial regulators in Europe

Sharon Bowles, Liberal Democrat Member of the European Parliament for the South-East (which includes Oxfordshire), has been included in the Financial News' list of the top ten financial regulators in Europe, along with Mervyn King, Governor of the Bank of England, and Jean-Claude Trichet, President of the European Central Bank.
Sharon also features at the top of only four women in the full list of the most influential people in European Finance.
Financial News, the financial industry newspaper, said that this is the first time that they have ever put a politician in their list. Sharon Bowles said: "It is pretty awesome to realise how many people in the City and around Europe watch what I'm doing. It is also recognition of the power of the European Parliament, and of my committee. I work regularly with the rest of the top ten regulators. Indeed, part of my job is holding several of them to account. Over the next year we will all be helping to shape new financial regulation."
